Portrait Shoot : Starting at $325

From start to finish, we’ll spend about an hour and a half together. I’ll create dozens of images, maybe hundreds - it depends on your needs and our time constraints. Need more time? Let me know!

The cost includes the creation of all of the images, an online album ready to view within 1-2 business days, a low-resolution CD, and your choice of either a print up to an 8x10 or one high-resolution image download (along with the rights to reproduce that image for publicity purposes.) I encourage you to opt for the free high-resolution image download so that you can reproduce that image at your convenience.

Minor corrections, such as the removal of a blemish, are included in the price. However, the cost of any major photo editing will vary depending on your specific needs. Please contact me for custom photoshop pricing.

Prices:

Megpix Painless Portrait Shoot - $325 creation fee, includes 1-1.5 hours, a free online album, and your
choice of the rights to reproduce 1 image for promotional purposes, or a print up to an 8x10.
Personal Use Prints - 1 set of 4 wallets: $5, 4x6: $5, 5x7: $10, 8x10: $15, 11x14: $35, 16X20: $65,
Other sizes available.

Promo Rights - $25-$40 per image when photo credit can be given, more when credit cannot be given.
Commercial Rights - Starting at $75 per image, depending on usage. We can also knock down the price if
you need to use a number of images. Price depends on where the image will be used, and whether more
than one use is needed. For example, if you endorse a product and our photo appears in a nationally
distributed magazine for several months, rights licensing will be more expensive than if the image appears
in one edition of a textbook.
More time in the shoot - $325/hr, but we’re not sticklers.

Portrait Print Packages:

• $75 for $100 worth of prints - (1) 8X10, (5) 5X7, (7) 4X6
• $125 for $175 worth of prints - (2) 8X10, (7) 5X7, (15) 4X6
• $225 for $300 worth of prints - (5) 8X10, (10) 5X7, (20) 4X6, (5) sets of 4 wallets
  

Copyright Law and Repro Rights:

What are promo rights and commercial rights?

Commercial Rights: If you make a CD or sell a book or a mug or a t-shirt with one of the images on it that we produced today, you need to pay a licensing fee to the photographer, essentially for helping you sell that product. Any item that you hope to make a profit from that includes one of my images has to be licensed with commercial rights. It’s a way of saying thanks for helping you sell your product with a great image! Remember, commercial rights are licensed for specific purposes. Need to use the image for different purposes, like the front of a magazine? Contact me.

Promo Rights: Promotional rights promote you, your institution or group. A head shot would be promo use, as would use on a brochure, website, poster, or other give-away item. Once you purchase promo rights to an image, you can keep using that image promotionally in several different venues - just remember the Megpix Photography photo credit, please!

I’m a freelance photographer. According to US Copyright Law, artists keep copyright to all the images they create. But you can purchase prints and lease rights to reproduce images promotionally and/or commercially. Each type of rights is exclusive of the others, so before you use an image, make sure you have leased the right kind of rights.

I’m proud of my work! I hope the rest of the world enjoys it as much as we do. Whenever you publish an image - on the web, on a CD, in a brochure, etc. - please include a photo credit: “Photo by Megpix Photography”. If you can’t include a photo credit because there’s no room or for other reasons, we’ll negotiate a slightly higher fee.

How to Order:

Photos are labeled like this: megpix-010107-001.jpg. The last 3 digits are the image number. The 6-digit number is the date of your photo shoot as mmddyy. Megpix is me. When you order, please tell me the date of your shoot plus the image number(s). I’ll also ask you what size you need, printed or digital, size and resolution for digital, and if you need any repro rights. You can order directly from the free online album, or through me via email or phone call.

If you’d like to have some of your portraits framed, please email or call so that we can discuss your specific framing needs. Once I know exactly what you are looking for, I can come up with a design and a price that works for you!

When to Order:

Pre-paid items - like packages and the free image included in the shoot - are good for 18 months from the date of our shoot. After that, they’re forfeit - oh dear!

• Digital: Digital high-resolution or web ready images that you order can be ready and emailed to you in as little as 2 hours - but please check ahead to make sure I’m available during the time that you need me!
• Printed: Printed images - up to 8x10 - will be ready in about a week, and I’ll mail them to you, unless
  you’d rather pay for FedEx. Larger printed images will take a little longer, but they’ll be worth the wait!
